The Friends of the Ferndale Library is made up of many individuals with different hobbies, interests, and backgrounds, who have the shared goal of promoting and supporting the library. Take a peak below to meet some of the friends!

Ed Burns, President

My name is Ed Burns and I’m the President of the Friends of the Ferndale Library. Prior to that I was a librarian at FADL for 15 years. And prior to that, I was the President of the Friends of the Ferndale Library.  

My favorite library resource is Hoopla because I’ve been able to find a lot of obscure music to stream.

Emily Bosh Garner, Vice President

My name is Emily Bosh Garner and my role is Vice President.

My favorite book is Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

 

June Axelrad, Bookstore Chair

I’m June Axelrad and I’ve been chair of the Friends bookstore for about 15 years. When I am not volunteering at the bookstore, I volunteer at the zoo. 
 
My favorite all time book ( and the movie is also exquisite,) is To Kill a Mockingbird. I am also a big fan Luis Alberto Urrea and Barbara Kingsolver.

 

Denise Cote, Secretary

My name is Dr. Denise Cote. My role is Secretary of the Friends of the Ferndale Public Library. I’ve been an academic librarian for 26 years and am currently an adjunct reference librarian at Oakland Community College.


My favorite library resource is Libby. I love having quick access to the FPL’s excellent selection of e-books!

Marcus Minardi, Website

My name is Marcus Minardi and I currently help with designing and updating the website.

My favorite author is Octavia Butler but my favorite book is Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Favorite thing about Ferndale Library: I love the the puzzles!

I joined friends because I grew up going to the library and have always been a library fanatic and I wanted to get more involved in supporting my local library!
